Recommendation letters

I generally write recommendation letters for students who:

  • took at least two courses with me and excelled;
  • wrote a strong undergraduate thesis, or M.A./M.S. dissertation with me; or
  • worked for me for at least four months.

If none of these apply, it will be difficult for me to write a strong letter. Recommendation letters are explicit about how long I have known you, in what capacity, my observations of your work and character, and how I rank you relative to your peers and my past students.

Three or four weeks before the due date you should email me the following:

  • your latest CV;
  • your transcripts and GPAs; and
  • a list of where are the letters will be going.

I have written recommendation letters for the following students. With this in mind, you should consider how I might evaluate your performance relative to your peers and the students I have recommended in the past.

  • 至少修過我兩門課並表現優異;

  • 與我合作撰寫過學士班專題論文,或碩士論文;

  • 你最新的履歷表(CV);

  • 你的成績單與 GPA;
